[gmail told me this was a suspicious link when i clicked on it. i'm laughing.
Anyway, Flayn is pretty unhappy with this turn of events, but what else is new? Once she's put some distance between herself and the mess hall, she slows down. She seems to be pretty deep in thought as she follows the path back toward the cabins.
Deep in thought enough that she doesn't hear Magnus coming! He must have rolled a natural 20 on stealth, or maybe she just critical failed her perception check..]
[Well, they're alive. That's a plus. But Tsurumaru is not, and that's going to weigh heavily on Flayn's mind for a while.
If they'd searched a little harder, struggled to stay awake - could they have prevented this?
They don't know. They might not ever know. What Flayn does know is that although she didn't hear a voice announcing Magnus's death, she's still worrying. In all the chaos, she hadn't gotten a good look at who was and wasn't okay - there were so many people wandering around and immediately bolting.
She relaxes a little when she finally does see him.]
...I suppose none of us ought to be surprised, but...
[Yeah. In the morning, there was a lot to do, but he does want to check on the people he spend a panic-filled hour with by the bonfire. Shaking her head when she talks to him.]
The more they insisted, the more obvious it got. But goddamn.
You were helping Lili look for him, huh? Was he your friend?
[It's foggy and rainy, but that hadn't stopped them on Friday, and that won't stop them now. Flayn pauses as she spots Magnus at the bonfire, and isn't able to stop herself from peering over to see what he's doing.]
[when magnus finds flayn, she's wandered out from the mess hall and back to the bonfire - she's sitting on a bench and looking into the flames, mostly, but from time to time she glances in the direction of the isolation cabin, like she's wondering if she ought to pay ogata a visit.
...but they all are, really, so that isn't anything new. Admitting it might be honest, but it doesn't seem as though it will be entirely productive, either.
She's just come out of the kitchen with a pot of tea and some cups. Magnus is welcome to some, if he'd like.]
...well... I think it is safe to say that we are all unhappy with how that turned out. [Except, perhaps, for the killer, but she doesn't really want to think about that, wow!] How are you faring?
[this week is probably shaping up to be one of flayn's least favorites already. she's trying to keep to herself, but there are so many of them still alive, and flayn can't quite stop herself from greeting people when she notices them.
case in point: she sees magnus, makes eye contact, and starts to say hello - but a moent later, magnus finds himself viewing a memory as if he's running through a hallway. the details of his surroundings are blurry - this memory is from a long time ago, and even now, she can't quite recall it clearly. but the long, green-haired woman up ahead is much more in focus.
flayn's voice comes out when he feels himself speak.
the woman looks startled, then concerned. "What's wrong?!"
a pause, and his point of view shifts to the side before he tugs down on a piece of fabric that's been pulled up and over his chin. something almost scale-like brushes against his fingertips, and the green-haired woman's eyes light up with excitement.
"Is this your first transformation? Does your father know??"
"No! Don't tell him! It's so embarrassing!"
there's a brief flash of flayn's face, reflected in a mirror that was standing somewhere behind the woman, as she tries to pull away from the woman's hands - scales have formed along her neck, creeping up her face, and her teeth are sharper than they ought to be.
a moment later, the memory ends, and flayn's frozen up. oops.]
[Well. Okay. Magnus is a little frozen, too, but mainly by Flayn's reaction. It seemed like a fine memory to him? She developed some scales? But based on her embarrassment then and now, he's wondering if he wandered into some kind of. . . immortal puberty?
[Well! Flayn is pretty easy to find. She's in the mess hall, bundled up in a dark, Chinese-style robe which is actually way too big for her. She's got a teapot and a wholeass bag of sugar at the table in front of her, and she's drinking from a cup of tea.
[That execution was definitely a lot. Of those in the audience, Magnus and Beau seemed especially distraught - and she really can't blame them at all. So, when the dust settles and he's had some time to get Taako situated, she goes to look for him.]
Ah - there you are... [Just going to launch right into it!] ...how are you feeling?
well, perhaps unsurprisingly, she's holed herself up in her cabin. the door's partially cracked open - she ran in there in a rush, after waking up in snail cabin, because she, well, she's really upset.
by the time magnus gets there, she's got a blanket pulled up over herself, and there's the sound of crying from her bunk.
[it's not as large as the library from the subdivided village - but it will do. flayn is deep in thought in the library, going from shelf to shelf as she looks for something to read.
her expression is as blank as she can make it.
she's not sure what to do. it's next to impossible to distract herself, but she's hoping she'll be able to lose herself in a book.
that's her mindset when magnus finds her, anyway.]
[Of course I do, always. Anyway, it did suck. So very much.]
. . . I know. [He doesn't know the answer to that.] I keep thinking we have to find a way to fix it, but I don't know. I talked to Ookurikara some, and he's pretty convinced if he wins the fight, he's not walking out of there.
