[gmail told me this was a suspicious link when i clicked on it. i'm laughing.
Anyway, Flayn is pretty unhappy with this turn of events, but what else is new? Once she's put some distance between herself and the mess hall, she slows down. She seems to be pretty deep in thought as she follows the path back toward the cabins.
Deep in thought enough that she doesn't hear Magnus coming! He must have rolled a natural 20 on stealth, or maybe she just critical failed her perception check..]
Hmm. I mean, I can't say knowing a bunch of random trivia tells me much about a person! Like, your profile might make it sound like you're bad at cooking, but it might just be making something that has a perfectly good explanation seem bad! Can't trust these things.
[He's not? Talking about cooking? Or is he.]
The island . . . how'd that go? What happened there?
[He might be! But he also might not be. Flayn's expression softens a little, and some of the tension bleeds out of her shoulders.]
Thank you, Magnus the Hammer.
[Anyway. Moving on.]
...we were told that if any of us wanted to go home, eleven of us had to die. There were only twenty-one of us to begin with, so... [A little more than half.] But it was all due to a curse. Luckily, the curse was broken, and all of us who were killed came back. We were meant to be going home, but...
[There's an unspoken "but," there. And then not unspoken:]
However... I must admit that even to me, it seems a little too good to be true. Though I am not sure if it is better to allow them to think that we believe them, or to make it clear to them that something about this seems suspicious.
Yeah. I talked to Purple. Acted like all of this was just a wacky mishap.
[Scratching his head.]
Just. Keep an eye out, okay? I figure after being in one of these before, most people are jumpy. And I'm trying not to make the same mistakes again and be one of the jumpy guys.
...I suppose it is possible that from their point of view, that is all this is.
[But if there really is some outside force at play here - and there likely is, given that they don't know what caused the "portal mishap" - good intentions from their hosts may not mean much.]
I think if we all stay calm, it will be easier for us to figure out what to do next. ["Stay calm," says the girl who ran away from her profile in a panic. Whatever.] Perhaps we ought to try and get to know each other as a group..? If we all make friends with each other, we are less likely to want to hurt each other.
Yeah, that's a great idea. I feel like it's easy to hear that people might kill you and get mad about it, but harder when you know those people a little better.
Who's hear from the island you were on? Robot guy, brilliant detective guy, blonde guy, robot guy. . . ?
Edited (how could i forget 3po) 2020-06-07 22:23 (UTC)
[Well. She can tell him their names, but will he recognize them? Who knows.]
C-3PO was one. Is that who you mean be "robot guy"? [It could mean him or it could mean Guy, who is very into robots.] Dimitri was another, as was Yin Yu... and Anaido, yes. The brilliant detective. [Is he brilliant, though? Is he?] Minako, Giyuu, Shinobu, and Ogata were on the island with us as well.
[Well, they're alive. That's a plus. But Tsurumaru is not, and that's going to weigh heavily on Flayn's mind for a while.
If they'd searched a little harder, struggled to stay awake - could they have prevented this?
They don't know. They might not ever know. What Flayn does know is that although she didn't hear a voice announcing Magnus's death, she's still worrying. In all the chaos, she hadn't gotten a good look at who was and wasn't okay - there were so many people wandering around and immediately bolting.
She relaxes a little when she finally does see him.]
...I suppose none of us ought to be surprised, but...
