Ah - no, not me! A good friend of mine kept them as pets, though. Hah - funniest thing, since his home doesn't allow pets. And yet, there they were when I last visited, clear as day! A whole herd of them, all tamed and sweet!
[He laughs a little, which startles his poor rabbits away...]
Hah! The sort with four thousand rules inscribed into a rock at the entrance to their biggest city! Four thousand rules that every cultivator who enters is expected to memorize and abide by. How's that for ridiculous?
[He grins as he says it though, and there's clearly some amount of goblin fondness in his voice...]
Who's to say? Hundreds and hundreds of hours of drilling, I'd imagine. The disciples of that sect are notorious for being high-strung and studious, so it must be second nature to memorize rules, no matter how many there are.
[The funny part is there were 3000 when he went to school there. An extra 1000 were added after he got kicked out...]
[is. is the implication there that he's responsible for those extra 1000 or just that the students got rowdier in the years after he got the boot. i don't know which is worse.]
That's why their disciplinary staff is always kept so busy, hah. On my first night there, I think I probably broke at least two or three hundred rules alone!
[He'll be the first to volunteer as tribute to help people get their tasks done okay JUST FIND HIM LATER. For now, though:]
Of course not! Or rather, not all of them. I have some of the rules memorized, but it's been so long since I was a student there that it's all but lost, now. Ah, but I do remember a few... [He'll just count them off on his fingers as he goes.]
Breaking curfew, going into town at night, bringing alcohol onto the premise, drinking, picking a fight, bribing a member of the disciplinary committee, disrespecting higher ranking students - things like that!
[He is the man that everyone's angry uncle warns them about (and then they marry him anyway).]
Oh, it was! It was absolutely hilarious, hah. Ah, but why don't you tell me a little bit about your world, too? Did you have any sort of schooling like that?
Hmm... perhaps not precisely like that, but I am a student of the Officers Academy. I have become quite adept at combat and commanding troops since enrolling!
Most who study there go on to become knights. I do not know that I shall ever become one, but I will at least be able to follow those I care about to the field of battle should the need arise.
I have an aptitude for the lance, when the need to use it arises, and I have some skill with the bow. I am primarily a practitioner of white magic, however.
[She's the medic! Which probably surprises approximately no one.]
How it works! What's the source of the energy you use? Do you channel through incantations, runes, spells?
[AS FOR HIMSELF... Well, he doesn't know it's going to be written on his profile but he knows some people here already tie his name to demonic cultivation, SO:]
I'm a cultivator! I work with resentful energy, personally.
Hmm... spells, I suppose. Some have more of an aptitude for using magic than others - there are some scholars who believe it is hereditary, and runs in our blood.
Mm! There's speculation like that where I come from, too - that only cultivation families have what it takes to form a golden core. Some are more apt than others with that, too.
[A little nod! As for RESENTFUL ENERGY:]
The way you would any other sort of energy, really! You just have to take care to, ah, cleanse yourself and what you work with. It can be a lot if you aren't used to dealing with it or don't have a strong tolerance.

[TERRIBLE. Even the monastery has cats and dogs wandering the grounds.
She scoops up one of his erstwhile rabbits and places it in her lap so she can pet it. There, there.]

That many... how do they remember them all?

They must have very impressive memories!
no subject
You aren't wrong! Though I think memories like that would be used better on other things and not thousands of trite rules, personally.
no subject
With so many of them, even if you remember them all, it must be terribly likely that one might get broken on accident...

That's why their disciplinary staff is always kept so busy, hah. On my first night there, I think I probably broke at least two or three hundred rules alone!
[Don't say it like it's a pride point...]

[flayn no save this for when it's a task and you can get something out of it,,,]

That must have been a very entertaining first day.

[FLAYN IS HIS PARTY MIRROR, HE SEES, HE SEES.]
Wonderful! You should tell me a little bit about the magic in your world. I do something similar in mine.

["Something similar"...]
What is it that you do?

How do you make use of such energy?
