[ yin yu gives a little nod of his head. ] Of course, my lady. [ and takes her arm immediately.
off they go!! the camp feels very quiet, blanketed with snow like this. yin yu doesn't seem to be taking her anywhere particularly special or ~ new ~, but a bit away from the camp, back towards the sport court area. there's a fairly decent sized clearing, already blanketed with a thick carpet of white from the snow, which seems to be the destination. ]
Have you seen weather like this often, Lady Flayn? [ he definitely has not... ]
Snow is not terribly uncommon in certain parts of my homeland, but it has been quite some time since I have seen this much of it.
[...it's peaceful, though. she kind of likes it. maybe if they're lucky, the cold weather and the fact that footprints would almost certainly be tracked anywhere one went in the camp will discourage people from murder this week?]
approaching the spot properly, yin yu gently unwinds his arm from flayn's, and gives it a little pat. it is a big clearing: the snow has fallen in nice piles in a few spots, and they can just see the forest's edge from where they stand. the white snow against the trees is a truly lovely sight, mingling in with the branches. ]
Just a moment.
[ feel free to admire the view for a second! yin yu disappears into the treeline in the distance, as if going to fetch something. as usual, he's out of sight, melting easily into the background.
and then, almost out of nowhere, a very well aimed (though not large) snowball comes from behind and hits flayn right in the back. ]
[...moments later, though, she's laughing, and she bends down to start forming snowballs, and she whirls around to face the direction that snowball had come from.]
So that is how it is, is it? Very well! I shall be your opponent!
[if she can't see him right away, she'll just have to track him by the footprints he leaves in the snow!]
[ yin yu's smiling on his end, too, even more so when flayn takes it on with aplomb. but! he's going to take this 'battle' very seriously! he reaches up to pull his mask back down over his face, blending into the treeline with ease.
he's not going to make this easy on her, kicking snow back over his footprints when he takes a step, hopping from low branch to low branch on trees along the edge. after all, this is his element - being sneaky is his style - and yin yu is nothing if not good at being silent.
another snowball comes from an entirely different direction, aimed at her good side. ]
[sneaky, indeed! flayn really does need to take more stealth lessons from him. she catches movement out of the corner of her eye, but doesn't have fast enough reflexes to dodge the incoming snowball entirely.
she does, however, immediately launch a snowball in the direction it came from, and takes off running after it!
[ flayn's throw is pretty good: it arcs nicely, and he ducks out of the way so it harmlessly hits the tree behind his head. ah... deja vu.
up he goes, moving from branch to branch now in the trees, deeper into the forest himself. he'll need to get some distance from her to form another snowball, so for now he's content playing this game of basically hide and seek.
he takes a sharp left, veering back towards the original opening of the forest. yin yu's not going at his full speed, and she might catch a glimpse of the face of his mask as he alights down to gather up a handful of snow, as light on his feet as ever. ]
[allowing herself to be drawn toward the forest feels like a surefire way of getting caught in a trap. in an actual battle, she would take pains to avoid it - but this is a snowball fight with yin yu, who she trusts implicitly.
(if it was a trap, would it be so bad to be caught by him? the thought crosses her mind briefly, and her cheeks flush. she shakes her head. no time for that kind of thinking...!)
he's quick and light on his feet, and she almost doesn't catch the mask. it's white, after all, and blends in nicely with the snow.
but his hair, and his clothing - that's a little easier to see against the snowy backdrop. with a delighted laugh, she tosses a snowball his way.]
[ what are you talking about he just betrayed you!! untrustworthy!
ah! she spotted him. yin yu really has to dodge the snowball this time, though it clips him in the shoulder. he's not laughing loudly, but it's that distraction that ended up with him getting hit, because behind the ever sad face of his ghost mask, he's laughing, too, smile wide.
he stops, for a moment, making sure she sees him fully. tall, clothed in all black, he sticks out quite a bit, and he holds a snowball in his hand-- and goes right ahead and throws it at her, aiming away from her healing side but otherwise just about anywhere he can hit. it's probably closer to her face this time, but the throw is light.
and then, yin yu practically disappears again, in a blur of black. this time, he goes back down through the forest, taking a variety of featherlight steps before hopping up into the trees. there's a spot where they're clumped together, branches brushing, and yin yu hoists himself up into it easy, blending in... and waiting. ]
[his throw hits her neck, and honestly? that was a pretty good throw. she can't help but be a little impressed, even as she's a little frustrated with herself for not being quick enough to dodge it.
but she's noticed that absolutely none of his throws have been aimed at her injured side. it makes sense; yin yu is thoughtful like that.
she kneels down and prepares a few snowballs, which she tucks into the crook of her arm before heading further into the forest after him. one, she keeps at the ready in her hand, and she's scanning her surroundings carefully. ...how does he manage to keep vanishing like that?]
[ the benefits of being nearly presenceless: he's so plain and boring that he just tends to blend in to most places.
here, it helps that he's more or less dressed for the weather. the trees camouflage his dark clothes, and his mask blends in nicely with the white still falling from the sky. pressed back to the tree trunk, he waits silently for flayn to walk underneath the specific tree he's in...
and then kicks downward on the branch he stands on so it shakes, and dumps all of the snow on it right on her head the minute she walks under. poor flayn stuck with hard mode snowball fight ]
the snow hits the top of her head and some of it slides, falling down the back of her top. cold! it's cold! she gives a muffled little shriek which turns into giggles, and shaking her head to dislodge more of the snow from her hair, she turns and hurls three snowballs upwards into the tree.
[ he's feeling a bit mischievous - normally he wouldn't stay to watch the efforts of such a trap, but flayn's squeal and resulting giggles a little satisfying in a way he is not going to unpack right now. that means though that when she throws all three snowballs --
the third one hits him right in the mask, almost dead center. it gets in every crevice uncovered and the snow is very cold.
If you did, I would have deserved it. [ the laughter still resounds in his tone, while she's giggling, briefly interrupting him, too. it's all very silly, and even if his nose is cold now, it's all very harmless. yin yu shifts to swing his leg over the side of the branch and hops back down, landing soundlessly in front of her, only footsteps to show his presence was even there.
pressing his gloved hands together, fist to palm, he bows, very proper. ] I apologize, Lady Flayn, I did trick you. I hope you'll forgive the, ah, [ briefly, his eyes crinkle behind his mask, smile widening, as he smothers another laugh attempting to come out during his serious apology. ] 'betrayal'.
not. yin yu nods when she asks, giving a little bow of his head. it might be nice to get inside, anyway... his face is kind of cold, and he can only imagine flayn. that was his fault, whoops. ] It would be my honor.
[ besides, there's still something to do, so. over tea would be nice. ]
Green tea is the most common to my homeland: I prefer it to be lighter and less sweet.
[ in ghost city they have just about everything, but the morning dew tea from the mountains nearest to his homeland is still the most familiar. ] I'm not picky, though.
[ that's probably not surprising. he sets about gathering cups for each of them while she hunts for the good tea. ]
[she nods, and sets to finding some good tea! she finds a tin of green tea leaves and they don't smell too sweet or anything, so she'll use those.
she hums a little to herself as she gets some water boiling. if she stays close to the stove, well - that's probably just because she's shivering. a little.
...it's peaceful like this. she kind of likes it, just being here with him, doing something as simple as preparing tea together.]
It should not take too terribly long - the water ought to be ready quickly...
[ ever observant, he notices those shivers. as yin yu sets out a pair of matching cups, a saucer, a small spoon for sugar or milk, he pauses.
for a minute, he seems to fade out of sight line again, but it's only because he's doing something. despite being out in the cold, he avoided being pelted by snow -- aside from once, in the face -- so his clothes are still very dry. they might be a little chilled on the outside, but the inside is warm.
he quietly unlaces the cuffs of his outer robe so the large sleeves fall properly, the fabric no longer tucked in, and then slips out of it. it doesn't affect him any - he's still got like at least five layers on under - and so, when flayn has a moment, he offers, a bit hesitantly, the coat tucked over his arm. ]
Lady Flayn, you're shivering... here. [ and holds it up by the corners, offering to help her put it on...if she wants... a weird thing to be anxious about, but here we are. ] I have more than enough.
