It's just logistics. Not every place can have a side-effect that relates, especially if they didn't have anything to do with the scene... even sometimes when they do.

I suppose whatever force out there it is that keeps making us go through these thinks it would be too easy for us otherwise.

Don't ask me. Honestly, as far as I can remember only the library was ever consistently useful for reasons outside of being related to the murder scene, and even it was a bit of a stretch.

One of those things that make a lot more sense in hindsight, but not necessarily usable in the moment. When I say 'sometimes useful' I really do mean sometimes.
