[ he flexes his fingers, briefly still holding the twig. ] If they won't let go, you can stomp on their wrist. Even if it's not well aimed, it will still hurt enough that most people should release the knife. You can kick it far away, or grab it for yourself.
[It all makes a certain amount of sense. Flayn thinks to herself that kicking the knife away would probably be better - or would picking it up be? If she kicked it away, could whoever she disarmed beat her to it and pick it up again?

his tone's gentle when he says it; he would not be surprised if flayn was like suddenly freakishly strong (she's enough like dianxia, anyway) but being a generally martial person means he's used to it. besides, getting flipped over by students is basically a part of training.
with that reassurance, he steps back a few feet, picking the twig back up. a pause. ] I'll be sure to let go, so there won't be any need to stomp down, if we get that far.

But when Yin Yu comes at her, Flayn reacts as though it is one. In a fistfight, she's fairly useless. But she's light and quick, and she's trained to dodge strikes when she can see them coming. Without thinking, she quickly and gracefully sidesteps his approach, then pivots to face him, backing up a few steps to put some distance between them.
when she pivots, yin yu's instincts kick in, and he's already moved too, barely a blur of black to be out of sight again, behind her, arm lifted as if to strike; he's also left surprised, blinking kind of stupidly at the back of her head. that was an incredibly graceful dodge on her part. flayn is, as ever, full of surprises. ]
Hah. [ he laughs on his exhale and drops the position of his martial style. there's a little light to his eyes; surprising, but not at all displeased. ] Lady Flayn, are you sure you need me to teach you? That was excellent.

More importantly, Yin Yu isn't flustered. He's a very good teacher, and what he's explaining makes sense, so she nods to herself as they both get back into position to try again.
[ definitely from the exertion! this is not an easy lesson and requires a lot of hard work. it gets the blood pumping, and by the end of it, it feels like they've made some progress--not to mention, his adrenaline's pumping proper, and it's set him in what has to be a pretty good mood. he really likes the martial arts of cultivation--there were many reasons that he worked so hard--and it's nice to use it like he used to, in his sect days. yin yu shone his best when he was shixiong

It would be wise to stretch this evening, and eat something as well, so you don't wake too sore. It can be difficult on the body to practice new motions.
