but she nods and gets to work! the first attempt is, uh, an unappetizing mixture of melted (and slightly burnt, somehow) chocolate with milk. it's entirely too soupy looking to be right...]

It needs something to thicken it...

Hm.... well, I'm no expert, but you may need to use more than just a fingerful for a proper recreation.
