[ he'll be dressed a bit differently than what she saw him in on the island, but he'll be around and about the island when he spots her. he'll approach her with hesitation and gives her plenty of time to run from him, if she wants. ]
Flayn...
[ if she doesn't flee then she can also notice that there is a worrisome bruise on his forehead that's accompanied by a gash that shows signs of healing. it definitely wasn't there the last time they spoke. but that's if she doesn't decide he isn't worth conversing with. ]
[She is also dressed a bit differently - quite a bit differently, in fact. But this outfit is better suited to the weather here and it's easier to move around in.
Part of her is almost tempted to leave - but, uh, excuse you, Giyuu. What are those injuries? Her eyes go wide, and she darts over to him, concerned despite her earlier annoyance with him.]
[ yeah, she's...definitely dressed differently. it looks like something that would have fit better on the island than here but he's not going to judge either way because the temperature here doesn't seem so bad to begin with. regardless he's happy that she isn't running off but he's also not wasting time. ]
That's what I came here to tell you about.
[ er. ]
Not the injury but the cause. [ he corrects himself with ease and makes sure to not waste any words with her. she still has every right to leave him at any given moment or time. ] Don't take off the scrunchie for any reason.
[The scrunchie...? She looks down at her wrist, where hers is, and her brow furrows.]
When did you...?
[Also, why did he take it off? The rules said not to -
But that's another thing. The rules have said not to remove the scrunchie from the very beginning, days before their arrival here at camp. On the bus, they hadn't had access to anything that could have been used for medical treatment.
To have a rule with consequences such as those, when there wouldn't have been much they could do about them...
Well, she can't help but wonder about this place and the people who are hosting them. It seems cruel.]
[ giyuu waits as he watches flayn go through the motions and thought process of everything that he had just thrown at her in such a short period of time. it's fine, isn't it? to just throw this at her...
the more that people know about certain things then maybe they can limit what has been done, or prevent anything that would make things worse and not better. ]
On the bus—Friday.
[ so, you know, almost immediately. giyuu proceeds to get kicked by shinobu and then he goes on removing a scrunchie and is met by a bus giving him the what's up for doing that. a bit rude, yeah? ]
To see what we could be expecting. Not everyone will obey the rules.
[ simple, right? someone else was going to do—eventually if they haven't already and giyuu doesn't mind being that person who did it. he's used to the pain and has been through worse. ]
she can be mad at him and he's ignoring her comments about his safety and about people caring about him. both are valid except. well. it's something he won't talk about. ]
Tell others that you meet that they're not to remove the scrunchie.
[Flayn is not looking for Giyuu, unfortunately, because ... we both know why. But she is sitting at the bonfire with her head in her hands, which he'll see whenever he happens to pass by.
but yeah, she won't be looking for him and he isn't actively seeking her out. quite honestly, he'd respect her boundaries and keep his distance from her but... well. if he were to hope to mend anything, he should be making efforts, right?
it's why he silently takes a seat within an eye shot of her. he doesn't want to sit any closer or push his luck without permission. he leaves it like this for a few moments before he slowly decides to speak. ]
How are you?
[ might be a bit of a stupid question but it's a start, right? ]
[The look she gives Giyuu isn't one of distrust, exactly - but she definitely looks weary and a little resentful. It's no one's fault, except for perhaps whoever decided to bring them here.
(Or whoever caused the mishap with the portals, if that is indeed what happened, and if there is indeed such a person.)]
[ if she wants to keep deflecting her resentment and anger towards him, he won't stop her. in the two weeks that they were on the island he did enough to deserve the ire for however long that she deems worthy.
nevertheless, he nods his head sharing her same feelings. ]
[She takes a deep breath, then lowers her gaze back to the bonfire.
Flayn is quiet for a few long moments, deep in thought, before she speaks again.]
I spoke with someone who said that perhaps there are some sort of... evil gods, who draw people into situations like this for their own amusement. [Her hands clench into fists.] If that is the case, if that is what they are using their divine power for - they do not deserve to be called gods. They should be stripped of their power.
he'll think over what flayn has to say and the idea of it. he has definitely heard of someone mentioning how they were just brought together to kill one another as entertainment. everyone killing the other up until the last person who has to kill themselves as well.
it makes giyuu angrier. ]
If that's the case, then I would stand with you.
[ his face tenses and clenches his fist. ]
I'm done with gods or whatever other worldly being thinking of us as puppets to control and toy with.
Human lives are not for anyone to play with. Especially not by the very beings that are meant to watch over them.
[It's despicable. If gods are responsible for this, then... well, she isn't sure what she'll do. She sighs heavily.]
...but what we must do now is figure out which of us took a life last night. [She puts a hand to her forehead, grimacing.] I think we were all expecting something like this, and yet...
[im crying naru i forgot i already made this catchall and was looking for new images
anyway. how's giyuu doing? flayn would ask, except, now they've made eye contact and it's time to be accosted by a memory!
he's viewing said memory as if he's running through a hallway. the details of his surroundings are blurry - this memory is from a long time ago, and even now, she can't quite recall it clearly. but the long, green-haired woman up ahead is much more in focus.
flayn's voice comes out when he feels himself speak.
the woman looks startled, then concerned. "What's wrong?!"
a pause, and giyuu's point of view shifts to the side before he tugs down on a piece of fabric that's been pulled up and over his chin. something almost scale-like brushes against his fingertips, and the green-haired woman's eyes light up with excitement.
"Is this your first transformation? Does your father know??"
"No! Don't tell him! It's so embarrassing!"
there's a brief flash of flayn's face, reflected in a mirror that was standing somewhere behind the woman, as she tries to pull away from the woman's hands - scales have formed along her neck, creeping up her face, and her teeth are sharper than they ought to be.
a moment later, the memory ends, and flayn's frozen up. oops.]
that entire experience was something completely and utterly beyond his understanding. is she a demon? she does bleed green(?)and her hair isn't a natural color but neither is mitsuri so maybe it's a food she liked. (sometimes i intensely hate kny) the demons he is familiar with still bleed red like him as well.
fortunately he has had a near 24 hours to sleep off the insanity of another memory he encountered before he finally found sleep.
not that it helps him here but. he.....just stares at flayn wondering what he should say. what he wants to say is to ask her if she can do that here or not. it's not right? she can't transform into.........whatever scaly thing she was turning into.
his name is giyuu tomioka and he has no brain cells left to lose. ]
[ for some reason he feels compelled to reach out with his left hand to grab a hold of flayn just before she leaves. which will, oh so lovingly, trigger a memory for her to enjoy. and despite of the coldness and apathy that giyuu is expressing to the group, there's pang of guilt and lack of self-worth that just barely shows itself under a forced apathy.
it's not a bad memory and it's nothing compared to what he saw with flayn but it does/should give her some insight into what lies underneath his stoicism. ]
[he's able to catch her by the wrist - but before she can protest anything, there's the memories.
...and it's mitsuri! mitsuri!! flayn recognizes her voice, even if giyuu isn't looking in her direction. (that's not the point here, flayn. mitsuri didn't even talk as much as some of the others.)
anyway, when the memory fades out and they find themselves back in camp, flayn is, at least, not struggling to leave, but it's probably because she's processing that.]
so he has her by the arm and now what? what is the next thing that he wants to do? he, well, the first thing he's going to do is release her arm slowly so that she doesn't feel like he's holding her here.
the next thing is to say something so he. will just...say something. ]
