Flayn is, perhaps stubbornly, sitting outside of her tent and looking up at the sky. She's counting stars, hoping that having something to do will keep her awake.
(It's like counting sheep. She'll probably fall asleep soon.)
She looks a little uncomfortable, but that's probably just because they're running out of time. This is about when people started dying last week, after all. Occasionally, she coughs, like she's trying to clear something from her throat, and then frowns.]
...we should... do something to occupy ourselves. [Her voice is a little quiet.] Should we tell stories... around a campfire? That is a camping activity, is it not?
[this is a mingle post, though, so feel free to threadjack and write your own toplevels if you want!!]
[Hi, Flayn. She's getting a blanket laid over her shoulder before Kasane plops down next her, a friendly smile on her face. Though... she does look a little worried, no matter how much she tries to disguise it.]
Hehe, it is. [Cheerfully enough. They have the supplies from yesterday, so maybe they can share stories while eating good food? That would be nice, if only to take their minds off what they might wake up to tomorrow.] Are you the kind that scares easily, Flayn-san? It's tradition to sit around a campfire while telling spooky stories.
[Hi, Kasane! Flayn flashes her a small smile before drawing the blanket around herself. It comes at just the right time; a slight tremor wracks her body as she settles into the blanket, her hands are shaking enough that she nearly loses her grip on it before managing to get it pulled more tightly around her.
...there. That's better. She lets out a breath.]
I suppose I have found some stories... frightening, but perhaps that would be best for keeping us all awake. Is there a tale you normally tell around the campfire, Neena?
[... Oh, don't like that. Neena watches her carefully, her smile faltering as she notices that tremor. Still, her voice remains kind as she replies.]
Actually... no. This would be my first time sharing stories around a campfire. It's a little embarrassing to admit now, but I had never even gone camping before we washed up on this island.
[So, someone else will have to be their spooky story senpai. That said, she shifts so she's sitting closer to her.]
... More importantly, are you okay? You're trembling.
[They're on a tropical island. It isn't that cold.
Flayn holds onto the blanket a tad bit more tightly.]
...in any event! If this is your first time camping, then you simply must have the honor of telling the first tale. What is the scariest story you know?
[... Hm. Unless tropical island weather is what Flayn's normally used to, it sure isn't that cold. While she might try to dismiss it, Neena isn't having any of that.]
Let me check your temperature, first. And then I'll think of a story so scary, even the island won't be able to make you sleep tonight. Is that okay?
[Was Ogata invited? Unclear. Regardless, he's appearing seemingly out of nowhere (really, he just snuck up quietly and it's dark.), face shadowed by his hood, almost like he's one of the spooks from the stories Flayn wants to tell.]
Are you sure you want to get yourself all worked up on a night like this? [Hi.]
Minako assembled a surprising array of nail polish from yesterday's supply drop, and it's all going to good use now. when you approach, she's carefully painting something on her thumb with minute brush strokes, before groaning and grabbing a discarded shirt to wipe it all off. ]
Who knew daisies could be so difficult...? Here, you try! Maybe you'll have more luck than me.
[ is luck even remotely involved in nail painting... ]
Neena blinks, caught off guard, before she giggles. Luck is a little involved, but... She will reach for one of the nail polish bottles, looking at the ingredients.]
Have you done your own nails before, Minako-san? I promise it gets easier with practice.
[ dang did the murder island cough up high quality stuff??? maybe it's not so bad ]
Mmmmm, I used to do them when I was younger. But it was pretty basic stuff - you know, one solid color, no special decals or anything. If I was feeling adventurous I'd alternate colors between nails.
[ so naturally she just decided to jump right in to something more difficult years later ]
It sounds like you've got a lot of practice though, Neena-san. Will you teach me your ways?
[A mystery. Knowing their luck, maybe this is one of those dupes they sell on Wish for a single dollar with the wrong ingredient list on the label. We just don't know.]
I'd be happy to. [Cheerfully! Even with murder night looming over their heads, the idea of playing with make-up makes her smile.] I've always had fun painting my nails, and I'm sure you will, too, once you get the hang on it.
[Minako is valid, maybe. Neena holds a hand out to her, expectantly.]
Let me see your dominant hand. I can help you with that one, and you can do the other yourself after watching me.
[She nods - and it takes her a few moments, but she gets to her feet and heads over to Minako. Her movements are a little stiff. And this is why you're supposed to get up and exercise, Flayn.
Anyway, once she gets close enough, she sits down next to Minako and leans over to look at her nail art.]
...ghosts they may be, but they are rather cute ghosts nonetheless.
[ Amidst all the axes that fell out of the sky, there had been some supplies seemingly for their comfort as well. It makes sense to enjoy them while they have a moment, since hunkering down for potential curfew has become a sleepover.
Nail polish doesn't seem to Spark Joy for him, though. He eyes it warily. ]
I... very much doubt that. If I'm honest, I'm not even sure what you're trying to achieve.
[ Minako will grab another bottle of bright orange nail polish and shake it, painting a quick coat on one of her nails. she'll brandish it in Dimitri's direction ]
See? You don't have to do anything complicated, really, just pick out a color you think looks nice and try it on.
[ here is one (1) retainer, 200% hovering instead of actually participating in said nail painting or storytelling... under the guise of 'keeping watch'....not being awkward and forgettable.
at least he's like, visible instead of hiding. ripe for the picking. ]
there's a long few minutes of hesitation.............. but eventually, he hops down from wherever he's perching and makes his way over towards flayn... summoned. ]
Are you sure? [ he doesn't mind keeping watch, really.... ]
Ah...I can't say I'd have much interesting to share.
[ but he will gamely settle down next to her, folding his legs crisscross and even reaching up to push his mask up to the side of his face again. this is social linking! ] What type of stories are you telling, Lady Flayn?

If we are worked up, we may not be able to sleep. If we cannot sleep, then we can stay alert enough to protect ourselves tonight.

[He sounds skeptical.]
I suppose I could contribute. If you like.
