...though it is rather annoying that this has happened often enough for there to be a pattern!

You think it's odd how they keep picking people that are sort of ... in your circle too? I don't just mean here, but apparently, other people I know were in some of the places you lot come from. Weird, is what that is.

...very much so. I have met three people I knew from home who I had not realized were involved in situations such as this before arriving here. What is it about us and the people we know that make us so appealing to whomever picks people for these things?

I can think of at least one person from my previous experience that I did not find terribly attractive, but perhaps he was simply not my type. Everyone has their own tastes.
