[it should have been simple enough, really. a quick visit to kouka to see how lili is doing - only, "kouka" is a rather general description, for a magical artifact. she should, perhaps, have specified "the water tribe" or, even better, "where lili is".
but no.
she thinks kouka as she snaps the scrunchie, and the portal lets her out in the courtyard of hiryuu palace, at the country's center. moments later, she's set upon by palace guards, who are understandably freaked out by this unfamiliar, green-haired girl dressed in her usual outfit from the monastery appearing as if from nowhere. physical combat isn't her forte, and while she probably could fight her way free with magic, she chooses not to; she's not here to hurt anyone, after all, and hurting people who are just doing their jobs is probably not going to earn her many points with whoever the master of this palace is.
she figures she can probably explain the situation once they've calmed down.
unfortunately, that's not until much later. her belongings are confiscated (including her scrunchie), and she's shut into a sparsely-decorated room with guards posted at the door. she loses track of exactly how much time passes between being shut in and something happening - though she's brought food and drink on two separate occasions - and just... waits it out.
maybe she should have tried to call ahead. in retrospect, contacting lili before showing up would have been a good idea.
she hears footsteps and voices outside the room, though, and listens as someone approaches. two someones, from the sound of it.
"The guards reported that she appeared as if from nowhere, Your Majesty. No one has been able to get any information out of her as to her origins or her intentions."
No one has tried, flayn thinks. it's not like the guards at her door have bothered to try to make conversation.
a moment later, the guards open the door to admit soo-won, kye-sook standing a few paces behind him. flayn looks up and her eyes widen slightly - he's a somewhat familiar face, just from having watched the trials from previous games at the camp, but she's familiar enough with the concept of alternate realities by now (thanks, dimitri) not to assume this is the same soo-won who had been in the castle.
...
but at least she knows she's definitely in a kouka of some kind! the scrunchie didn't steer her wrong there.
[magic is becoming too commonplace into this country, isn't it?
it is a thought that lingers for soo-won as he continues the rest of the meetings and preparations that he has to make for the day, because it would appear as though an intruder suddenly appearing in the courtyard is still not enough to convince kye-sook to allow him to stall on the rest of his agenda. given the increasing tensions with the surrounding kingdoms each day, soo-won supposes that there is no particular reason to disagree.
yet as the day stretches to evening and he receives the report from kye-sook, he only nods - and decides to give this matter his full attention now that nothing else competes with it. dismissing his advisor, he moves to enter the room. not alone, not technically. his bodyguards keep a watchful eye on him wherever he goes, but they are hard to detect as usual. even so, he feels assured in his safety.
though he cannot help but be taken back when he finds that the intruder is - apparently - a young girl.
- not that it provides him any particular solace or comfort. after all, is it not the whims of young girls that have rocked this country and surrounding lands lately? he wonders if the one in front of him holds the same fortitude and intensity, or if the interaction they're about to have will be easier.
(but not necessarily easy. he is not so deluded to think that.)
his expression eases into a smile, easy-going and kind.]
Good evening. You must've been waiting a while. Hopefully your needs have been attended to thus far.
[as attended to as an intruder could be, he supposes.]
If I may - could you state your name and business?
[perhaps the guards at the door won't make conversation - but he will. easily, and without missing a beat.]
[because it's really not that hard to get her to talk if you ask simple questions, kye-sook! there's no magic forcing her to hold her tongue, now. logically, it might be better to not brazenly announce that she's here looking for someone; what if lili hasn't told anyone of her experiences at the camp?
...buuuuut also, flayn really can't imagine lili keeping secrets for long, either. she's always been a very straightforward, honest person. she probably wouldn't like it much if she managed to find her by deceiving people.
besides, honesty is the best policy. it's probably fine.]
My name is Flayn. I was looking for a friend of mine - Lady Lili An - but I appear to have gotten a bit lost...
["a bit lost" is an understatement, but frankly, she's still not sure how she ended up here instead of anywhere else in kouka.
(it's probably because of her lack of attention to detail.)]
