[A fourth goat comes out from around Dimitri. Where the HELL are all these goats coming from? Do they have hay radar? HAYDAR? Making a face, he splits a bit of hay off for the new goat, but then the second goat gets impatient and gives his sleeve a yank.]
Cease. Wait your turn. There is plenty of hay here.
[But feeding the second goat makes both the first and the fourth try to chew other pieces of his clothing.]
Goliath was a big, dumb idiot most of the time. But he's loyal.
[ the entire goat flock is here now, apparently. dimitri considers finally stepping in when two kids bound and bounce in, prancing around damian's legs, but the activity has drawn the attention from a nearby cow as well, which he keeps at bay with a few absent pats to its wide snout and a handful of grass.
in the meantime, his smile wobbles slightly, a valiant attempt not to laugh. the humor wrinkles the corners of his eyes instead. ]
—Something about you must inspire loyalty in these creatures. [ they like you, damian... ]
[STOP, don't call him out. He makes a face which softens at the cow. He has a cow...!
And then he makes another face at the little goats! Not this again! The hay is practically gone.] Don't you start. I remember you. [One isn't so bad.
But the other small goat? Rambunctious. Even this late, with all of the hubbub between Dimitri and Damian, it races around the adults and charges. It does a parkour spring off one adult's side, lands on Damian's hip and thigh, and then flips away. Damian doesn't budge much, but he does suck his teeth.]
You--! What did I say?! This isn't loyalty. This is rebellion.
[ Once the latest goat launches into an acrobatic fit, Dimitri can't help a quiet laugh. It's not made at Damian's expense so much as an aimless, buoyant noise, just put out there to carry in the air.
He doesn't laugh much, here. It's a nice little reprieve, brief as it is. ]
Your subjects grow unruly.
[ He grabs another handful of grass to divert a few of the goats his way. The older ones get distracted. The cow clambers about lazily between them. ]
Perhaps the young ones just wish to play with you. [ Just a guess, since it doesn't look like they're that interested in the food. ]
[Dimitri gets a sideways look for the snicker, but no scolding since Damian realizes throwing a fit would make the entertainment more obvious.
When he glances back around, he can't find hide nor hair of the kid. Worrying.]
The "subjects" have plenty here to amuse themselves with besides--
[The ninja kid takes another spring off Damian's leg, and he stomps forward once to pretend like he will make chase. The goat nyooms away, and Damian hurried seeks respite under the side of the cow's head.]

I smell the rise of a coup in this barnyard.
