...no one ought to die for saying something, even if it was unpleasant.
[even if it was really unpleasant. flayn isn't sure if kara himself realizes just how unpleasant it was, but she's not anywhere near close enough to him to say so.]
But his saying something is likely a strong factor in what tipped things over the edge. Most likely at least a few people voted for him thinking, "I don't want to do any of this, I'm throwing away my vote, but fuck that guy, he's an Arschloch."
[ actions have consequences etc etc ]
And frankly, Flayn, when it comes to these ends of weeks we go through I don't think anyone's top priority has ever really been whether or not things are fair.
...perhaps it has not been anyone's priority, but it ought to be. We are all caught here together, so why is it so difficult for us to set aside our squabbles with one another and just cooperate for a better end?
See, that's the problem. We all talk a lot about that sort of thing, but it's performative and self-congratulatory. At the end of the day I think as long as the people who would rather protect their own first don't admit it even to themselves, we're going to keep running into this.
I mean, that'd be ideal, but how would you go about making that happen. The directors have been pushing the teambuilding thing the entire time we've been here, for all the good that did.
I... do not know. Perhaps if we could all get to talking, and could somehow get on the same page as to what our goals are...?
[flayn frowns]
Although, to be quite honest, I do not feel like there is anyone here who wants anything other than for us to find a way out of this situation, so I would have thought it would be easier for us all to cooperate already...
Haha. Well, I suppose it makes us a great case study in proving that simply having a shared enemy alone doesn't necessarily make for any form of camaraderie or true cooperation, let alone coordination.
I think we've all been clear on the fact that all of us want to get out of here with as little bloodshed as possible. Of course, we put a very different amount of value on each individual life here, and no one's going to agree on how much each is worth. Certainly you can rationalize it away as much as you like by saying they were necessary sacrifices, but at the end of the day people are going to resent that some people were chosen to die over others. As long as we have those individual interests and feelings, it's going to be difficult.
[ truly, this is a game where only the friendless losers dying would have been accepted. ]
It is only natural not to want to lose someone you are close to... I certainly cannot blame anyone who is upset by that.
[...but, honestly, she hopes they'll be able to get their act together so that the loss is only temporary, rather than permanent. from the sound of it, with the exception of the thots, they'd all managed to do that before.
it would be soul-crushing if they're not able to do it again.]
unfortunately that's all there is up this tag. 45's of the opinion if getting their acts together is something they would, could have done, there would be progress by now.
instead it's much more likely that everyone's split further down the lines of us and them by now, especially given those targeted. ]
[ she's said her piece, offered her analysis. what do you want from her. this is why people should just not be emotional, gott. if everyone just valued everyone's lives equally they wouldn't have all the problems they do, nods. ]
Hm. If it makes you feel any better, I think we'll manage to pull together for whatever it is that will greet us by the end of this, at least, then happily discard the rest of our attempt after cooperation is no longer necessary. There's too much between some parties here by this point for us not to, I think.

There must be some way, though.
