Flayn wants to reject the possibility, immediately and vehemently. But she knows that Dimitri wouldn't bring this up unless he'd thought about it, so she at least needs to consider it before she shuts it down.
His logic is at least somewhat sound. If history is repeating itself, it could happen to him. It could happen to any of them.
And so -]
...if I must guard myself from you, then you must guard yourself from me in turn. There is no reason why it could not happen to me, either.
Do not presume to tell me what I am or am not capable of.
[He hasn't really touched a nerve, not exactly - they both know that she doesn't want to hurt people. If given the choice between harming and healing, she'll choose healing every time.
But she may not have the choice, and that's the point she has to make here. This place could very well warp her into something she is not, if it does turn out the way some of the others have, or even if it turns out the way the island did.]
I will not need to be able to do that, because you will not harm anyone here. We will wait this out, and we will find our way home.
[ To see his own, ridiculous optimism reflected back at him is surreal. Dimitri shares her same, blind faith in all things but himself. But... if that's really the case, then he needs to take a different tack with this.
He looks a little tired, and defeated. But he smiles a little anyway, like some strange tension in him has finally unwound. ]
All right. We will get through this without harming anyone.
[ He sits back, closing his eyes as he speaks. ]
My power is that I can replicate a mundane skill that I see someone else perform for one week. I am on the Purple team.
[ He blinks, staring up at the ceiling a moment. ]
If you are so sure nothing will happen, then there's no harm in you knowing.
[ What he really means to say is that if something does happen, she should be aware. If nothing else... no matter how twisted his thoughts, he doubts he will hurt Flayn herself. And if she betrays him with this, he knows it's not of her own volition.
[Some of the tension bleeds out of her stance as he smiles, and she allows herself to relax just the slightest bit, smiling back at him. If nothing will happen, there is no harm in her knowing - which means there is no harm in his knowing, either.
She wants to trust him. She wants to trust him so badly that it hurts.]
...that is a very useful ability.
[What he'll use it for, she can't quite say - but it doesn't necessarily have to be for something nefarious. Perhaps it will help him in some way. Actually - if he watches the right person - it really could come in handy.
Dimitri could become a world-class chef, if he wanted to.]
I am on the Blue team.
[Some part of her had hoped that they would have been on the same team - but what are the chances of that? Just because he led the Blue Lions doesn't mean he's always going to be blue.
Maybe it's just their fate not to be under the same banner.]
[ The irony isn't lost on him that he isn't in the blue house this time, but he wishes now that he were. It would've been nice to do tasks under the same banner for once, to have that extra safety net of being on the same side no matter what might happen.
But things don't work out so simply, and even so, he will trust Flayn. No matter how splintered everything had been by the end of their stay on the island... their relationship had held intact, and he needs to trust in that, if nothing else.
So he nods, accepting their circumstances as what they are, and... as for her power... ]
That is... quite an ability.
[ He really has NO idea what to even say to love arrows. ]
[Not having any idea what to say to that is completely understandable. Flayn can hardly believe it, herself.]
It sounds like something out of a tale, does it not?
[Flayn manages a soft laugh, but it sounds almost... well, unsure. To alter the way people feel about each other... there are definitely some people (Giyuu, mainly) that she feels could use a push toward acknowledging their feelings, but would using a power like this be going too far?
Can she really subject people to that? She was very, very tempted to try it out the moment she read what it was on her brochure, but that wouldn't have been fair.]
...it does not sound like an ability that could possibly be real. I know of no such spells, using either white or black magic, that could have such an effect, and I have studied magic extensively.

[Her voice is small.]
Is that really what you want?

No, Flayn.
[ That isn't what he wants. ]
I am not afraid of you. Even if... you were touched by madness, like Giyuu, I do not believe in your capacity for harm. You are a truly good person.
I want you to know my power so you can decipher if I've killed someone.
