[Well, that sure is Ogata sneaking away from the camp!
He's got a lot of nerve, Flayn thinks, going off on his own after lecturing her about bears and other dangers on the island. So she picks up her sharp stick, straps her item from home to her back because that's apparently how it gets carried, and takes off after him.
...as stealthily as possible. Which might be stealthy, but probably isn't stealthy enough to fool him, given Ogata's everything. Oh well.]
[To her credit, he doesn’t notice right away. But yeah, he’s way too alert to let it slip his notice for long. As soon as he realizes he’s being followed, he’s unslinging his rifle from when it hangs on his shoulder, at the ready as he turns on his feel and sees Flayn.
[Well, they just watched everyone vote for C-3PO, which is... definitely a choice. Maybe it's right? Maybe the robot did kill Akane. Ogata sure doesn't know.
But there's nothing he can do about it. So he wanders down to the beach where the crabs are... doing their usual weird thing. Also, look, Flayn is here. He doesn't speak right away, simply standing there in silence witnessing the same absurd sight as when he first met this girl.]
[Flayn is quiet for a few long, painful moments as she stares out at the crabs. They're just dancing the night away - they don't have a care in the world, do they?]
I do not know. If the voice keeps its word, then... no one will be going home.
[She doesn't want that. But she doesn't want anyone else to die, either.]
and she kicks him straightaway, tbh. unfortunately, she is just as physically strong as she appears to be, which boils down to "not very". still, her kicks are stronger than her punches! it's fine.]
[Ogata has no opinion on this because he truly doesn't care whether more people die or not. He can't even be bothered to care about people he knows, why should he care about strangers.]
You saw the list that Dimitri had from the ruins, yes?
[Well, for what it's worth, he was not actually expecting that. He was expecting like some sort of ladylike slap. It does hurt, but not enough to actually make him stumble or anything.
A part of him knows he should not hit a little girl. But like, no one else is around to yell at him and she did accept that this was a fight, so. He reaches out to grab and yank a chunk of her curly hair, before kneeing her in the stomach!]
She should have expected that. She didn't, because having seen his rifle, she'd expected him to either use it as a ranger weapon or to hit her with it like a club - and she was poised to duck, but not prepared to dodge a blow from below.
It knocks the wind out of her and makes her double over in pain, but also, she's stubborn, and although it hurts, she's trained in combat; it's not like he's drawn blood or anything, and she's faced bandits and monsters that have done more damage than this.
With a grunt, she hooks her foot around his ankle in an attempt to trip him.]
[A rifle is NOT a blunt object that would just risk damaging all the internal mechanisms please???? Ogata doesn't treat his weapon so poorly.
That said, he was honestly expecting the gut punch to incapacitate her, so he was in no way anticipating being tripped, and when he moves to step away, he loses his balance, and topples over, but grabs blindly at Flayn's wrist to try to take her down with him.]
[He is able to catch her wrist and pull her down - she doesn't move fast enough to snatch her hand out of his reach. Moments later she makes an impact with a grunt and shifts to try and roll out of the way.
[He's not gonna, because the point of all this, in the long run, was just to get Flayn out of his hair, so he's going to scramble to his feet as fast as he can, hope she's winded enough to stay down for enough time that he can book it into the woods deep enough that she'll lose sight of him!!!]
[Ogata zones out for a solid 30 seconds, trying to decide if he wants to go investigate. He's still mad that Sugimoto allegedly died here when he wasn't even around to see it. He half thinks it's some elaborate hoax to mess with them. But Flayn would probably just yell at him if he got all weird about it, so better no go investigate until she's gone off and left him alone.]
It's odd they killed those people in an organized fashion but simply left us here to our own devices.
w1, post-waterfall camp meeting

And then he just frowns.]
What are you doing?
no subject
That is what I ought to be asking you! Did you and the others not just finish telling me of the dangers of wandering this island alone?
WHAT THE HECK I LOST THIS TAG SOMEHOW????
Yes. There's a difference between you and me wandering the island alone. For starters, I have a real weapon.
[As he's demonstrated.]
w2, saturday evening
But there's nothing he can do about it. So he wanders down to the beach where the crabs are... doing their usual weird thing. Also, look, Flayn is here. He doesn't speak right away, simply standing there in silence witnessing the same absurd sight as when he first met this girl.]
... What do you think happens now?
OH.... I FIGURED YOU JUST GOT BUSY GHKASHJFKGHG
[HUFFS.]

I do not know. If the voice keeps its word, then... no one will be going home.
[She doesn't want that. But she doesn't want anyone else to die, either.]
no im just a fool who's good at losing tags
[Hmmmmm]
Prove it, then.
no subject
I don't mean them. I mean us. Do we just have to haunt the next group of idiots that end up here?
oh... relatable
[hm]
Are you challenging me to a fight?
no subject
[she really doesn't like the idea of being a ghost!! or of there being another group going through this.]
...I hope that somehow, the others are able to... end this.
no subject
[Bold words for a guy who specializes in long-range combat who's within kicking range.]
no subject
[
and she kicks him straightaway, tbh. unfortunately, she is just as physically strong as she appears to be, which boils down to "not very". still, her kicks are stronger than her punches! it's fine.]
no subject
I just would rather someone I have a legitimate reason to haunt, like Sugimoto, if I have to be a ghost.
[Weird priorities.]
I don't see how them ending the curse would affect us, though.
no subject
[no more murder!! please!!]
no subject
You saw the list that Dimitri had from the ruins, yes?
no subject
[That's what she's hoping, anyway.]

[Where is his NEMESIS]
no subject
[maybe they're just sick of all this cursed island bullshit and staying out of the way]

It's hard to breathe. Give her a moment.
(Or, like, don't. This is a fight, after all.)]
no subject
I wonder if those files would exist in this version of those ruins.
[Ogata.]
no subject
...oh! I had not even considered that!
no subject
no subject
but he's successful, so like, good strategy.]
no subject
It's odd they killed those people in an organized fashion but simply left us here to our own devices.
no subject
[Mmmmgh.]
Which is really quite cowardly of them.
no subject
Aah. Perhaps they're afraid you'd kick them if they tried.
no subject
she deserves that, really]
I-I would think that they would have other people to be afraid of, if they are frightened of violence being turned on them!
no subject
[He is just teasing her really. Rachel did hit him in the head with a rock.]
no subject
Now I know that you are teasing me...
no subject
You'd be far more annoying if you didn't have it in you to hit me.
[This is almost a compliment? Almost. As if to make up for the teasing??]
no subject
[VICTORY.]
no subject
I didn't say that. I find your brand of naive optimism quite annoying. But at least you're consistent about it.
